Child Nutrition Services

Welcome to Child Nutrition Services!
Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand.

The Child Nutrition Services Department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well-being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits in food selection and sustainable food sources.

Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines.

Child Nutrition Services has made many changes over the past years to meet these continuously changing guidelines. We no longer provide foods with artificial trans fat and quite a few years ago removed many items that do not meet the recommendations such as soda, candy and fried chips. We offer salad bars in all of the elementary schools. We have expanded our variety of whole grain products and have replaced items that contain high fructose corn syrup with healthier alternatives. These are just some of the many changes we have recently made..more are to come!

Thursday, April 23, 2015, was FUESD's first day to celebrate "California Thursday"! This is a collaboration between the Center for Ecoliteracy and our school district to serve healthy, freshly prepared school meals made from California-grown fruits and vegetables! California Thursday will be celebrated every week!

We strive to provide the best meals for our students as we know that learning and nutrition go hand in hand. If you are a parent, please help us by filling out this brief survey.
