FUESD Staff:
Today, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that California will require public and private schools to verify that workers are fully vaccinated or tested regularly. The new state requirement for school employees will take effect Thursday, August 12.
Under the order, unvaccinated workers will be required to be tested weekly for COVID-19. Effective now, all staff, vaccinated and unvaccinated, are required to wear masks on school campuses while indoors. I will be providing follow up communication with unvaccinated employees re: the weekly testing protocols and schedule in our District.
Thank you to staff who have uploaded their vaccination cards. Just a reminder that all certificated staff should have uploaded their vaccination cards by today; we are asking all classified staff to upload their vaccination cards prior to starting their first day of work.
You can upload your vaccination by clicking this link. https://www.fuesd.org/
The order by Dr. Tomás J. Aragón, California’s public health officer, is part of the state’s efforts to protect Californians from the dangerous Delta variant of COVID-19 that are now circulating in our community. Vaccination status can have an impact on if and how long employees are required to quarantine after an exposure to COVID-19, and employees who are not vaccinated may be offered additional personal protective equipment under rules from Cal/OSHA.
We appreciate your cooperation in our efforts to keep our students and employees safe, and our schools open for in person instruction. Please contact me at 760-731-5405 if you have any questions or concerns.
Respectfully,
Brian Morris
