The Fallbrook Union Elementary School District (FUESD) proudly announces Yessica Angulo of Mary Fay Pendleton Elementary School as the 2025 – 2026 FUESD Teacher of the Year and Naomi Delgado of Potter Junior High School as the 2025 – 2026 FUESD Employee of the Year.
Each year, the beginning of spring marks an exciting time across the district as FUESD celebrates its outstanding educators and staff members. Teacher and Employee of the Year nominations are made at every school and district office, with individuals selected by their peers in recognition of their dedication, professionalism, and impact on students and the school community.
From those school-level honorees, a district committee reviews nominations and selects one teacher and one classified employee to represent the entire district.
Teacher of the Year: Yessica Angulo – Mary Fay Pendleton Elementary School
Yessica Angulo, a 5th-grade teacher at Mary Fay Pendleton Elementary, has dedicated 18 years to FUESD, including the past 16 years at Mary Fay, where she continues to inspire students and colleagues through her commitment to academic excellence and student growth.
Being named Teacher of the Year at both the school and district level is deeply meaningful to Angulo.
“This recognition is incredibly humbling,” Angulo shared. “It reminds me why I chose this profession. Teaching is truly a collaborative effort, and this honor reflects not only my work but the support and inspiration I’ve received from colleagues, administrators, students, and families throughout the years.”
Angulo credits her students as her greatest source of motivation. Each day, she strives to create a classroom environment where students feel safe to ask questions, take risks, and grow both academically and personally.
One moment this year reaffirmed her passion for teaching. After overcoming academic struggles, one of her students proudly completed an assignment and declared, “I did it, I CAN do hard things.”
“Seeing that sense of pride and confidence in a student is incredibly meaningful,” Angulo said. “Moments like that remind me that teaching is about more than academics — it’s about helping students believe in themselves.”
Mary Fay Pendleton Principal Brian Frost praised Angulo’s dedication to both her students and the broader school community, noting her ability to foster strong partnerships with families, including many military families who are part of the Mary Fay community.
Employee of the Year: Naomi Delgado – Potter Junior High School
Naomi Delgado, who serves as a key member of the office team at Potter Junior High, has spent more than two decades serving the Fallbrook education community, beginning her career as a substitute teacher in 2001 before transitioning into roles in Human Resources and eventually joining Potter Junior High.
For Delgado, the recognition is deeply personal.
“It feels really nice to be recognized because it means I’ve made as much of an impact on others as they’ve had on me,” Delgado said. “My colleagues feel like family. We’ve supported each other through so many moments in education, including the challenges of 2020 and 2021, and I’m incredibly proud of the resilience and dedication of our profession.”
Born and raised in Fallbrook, Delgado sees her work as a way to give back to the community that helped shape her.
“It’s an honor to serve the same community that supported me growing up,” she said. “The educators, coaches, mentors, and leaders who invested in me are not forgotten. Any positive contributions I make today are a reflection of what they taught me.”
Potter Junior High Principal Dr. Alejandro Gonzalez described Delgado as an irreplaceable part of the school community.
“Naomi is the kind of employee every school hopes to have — dependable, professional, and always anticipating what students, families, and staff need,” Gonzalez said. “She doesn’t just do her job — she elevates everyone around her.”
He added that Delgado’s deep connection to the district makes her impact even more meaningful.
“She grew up in FUESD and has now spent more than 20 years serving the district that raised her. Students and families aren’t just walking into an office — they’re being welcomed by someone who truly understands this community.”
The Teacher and Employee of the Year program highlights the extraordinary individuals who help shape the culture of excellence across FUESD schools. Through their dedication, compassion, and leadership, Angulo and Delgado exemplify the values that guide the district’s mission to support student success and strengthen the Fallbrook community.

El Distrito Escolar Primario de Fallbrook (FUESD, por sus siglas en inglés) se enorgullece en anunciar a Yessica Angulo de Mary Fay Pendleton Elementary School como Maestra del Año 2026 de FUESD, y a Naomi Delgado de Potter Junior High School como Empleada del Año 2026 de FUESD.
Cada año, el final del otoño y el inicio de la primavera marcan un momento especial para los empleados de FUESD, ya que el distrito celebra a los educadores y miembros del personal que hacen una diferencia significativa en la vida de los estudiantes. Las nominaciones para Maestro y Empleado del Año se realizan en cada escuela y oficina del distrito, y los ganadores son seleccionados por votación de sus propios colegas.
De entre esos reconocimientos a nivel escolar, un comité del distrito revisa las nominaciones y selecciona a un maestro y a un empleado clasificado para representar a todo el distrito.
Maestra del Año: Yessica Angulo Mary Fay Pendleton Elementary School
Yessica Angulo, maestra de quinto grado en Mary Fay Pendleton Elementary, ha dedicado 18 años al Distrito Escolar Primario de Fallbrook, incluyendo 16 años en Mary Fay, donde continúa inspirando a sus estudiantes y colegas con su compromiso con la excelencia académica y el desarrollo integral de los alumnos.
Para Angulo, ser nombrada Maestra del Año tanto a nivel escolar como distrital es un reconocimiento profundamente significativo.
“Ser reconocida por mis colegas y la administración es realmente un honor y algo muy humilde para mí,” compartió Angulo. “Este reconocimiento me recuerda por qué elegí esta profesión. También me motiva a seguir creciendo como educadora y a continuar dando lo mejor de mí para mis estudiantes.”
Angulo afirma que sus estudiantes son su mayor inspiración.
“Cada día entran al salón con curiosidad, energía y el potencial de aprender algo nuevo,” explicó. “Ver cómo crecen académica y personalmente durante el año es una de las experiencias más gratificantes.”
Uno de los momentos que más la marcó este año ocurrió cuando un estudiante que había estado luchando académicamente finalmente logró completar una tarea con éxito y dijo con orgullo: “Lo logré, sí puedo hacer cosas difíciles.”
“Momentos así nos recuerdan que la enseñanza es mucho más que contenido académico,” dijo Angulo. “Se trata de ayudar a los estudiantes a creer en sí mismos y reconocer su propio potencial.”
El director de Mary Fay Pendleton, Brian Frost, destacó el compromiso de Angulo con sus estudiantes y familias, así como su dedicación a construir una cultura de apoyo y colaboración dentro de la escuela.
Empleada del Año: Naomi Delgado – Potter Junior High School
Naomi Delgado, miembro clave del equipo administrativo de Potter Junior High, ha dedicado más de dos décadas al servicio de la comunidad educativa de Fallbrook. Inició su carrera como maestra sustituta en 2001, posteriormente trabajó en el departamento de Recursos Humanos y finalmente se integró al equipo de Potter Junior High.
Para Delgado, este reconocimiento tiene un significado muy especial.
“Se siente muy bien ser reconocida porque significa que he tenido un impacto en los demás, así como ellos lo han tenido en mí,” comentó Delgado. “Considero a mis colegas como familia, y hemos crecido juntos a lo largo de los años dentro de esta profesión.”
Nacida y criada en Fallbrook, Delgado considera su trabajo como una forma de retribuir a la comunidad que la formó.
“Es un honor poder servir a la comunidad que me vio crecer,” dijo. “Los educadores, entrenadores, mentores y líderes comunitarios que me apoyaron cuando era estudiante son una inspiración constante para mí.”
El director de Potter Junior High, Dr. Alejandro Gonzalez, destacó el impacto positivo que Delgado tiene en la escuela.
“Naomi es el tipo de empleada que toda escuela espera tener: confiable, profesional y siempre anticipando las necesidades de estudiantes, familias y personal,” expresó Gonzalez. “No solo realiza su trabajo de manera excepcional, sino que eleva a todos a su alrededor.”
También señaló que su profunda conexión con el distrito es parte de lo que hace su trabajo tan especial.
“Naomi creció en FUESD y ha dedicado más de 20 años a servir al mismo distrito que ayudó a formarla. Cuando estudiantes y familias entran a la oficina, son recibidos por alguien que realmente entiende a esta comunidad.”
El programa de Maestro y Empleado del Año reconoce a las personas extraordinarias que contribuyen diariamente al éxito de los estudiantes y al fortalecimiento de las escuelas del distrito. A través de su dedicación, liderazgo y compromiso con la comunidad, Yessica Angulo y Naomi Delgado representan los valores y la misión de FUESD.
