The Fallbrook Union Elementary School District proudly hosted the 53rd Annual FUESD Don Dornon Games on the morning of March 21, welcoming a large and enthusiastic crowd of parents, staff, and community members. The event once again showcased the very best of Fallbrook—bringing people together to celebrate student athletics, sportsmanship, and a long-standing community tradition.
A Legacy of Tradition
The Don Dornon Games have been a cornerstone of the Fallbrook community for more than five decades. Originally established by the Fallbrook Street PTA and student council, the event was led by Don Dornon, a beloved teacher whose dedication to students left a lasting impact.
Following Mr. Dornon’s passing in 1976, the community created a memorial fund to ensure the continuation of the track meet. In 1977, the event was officially renamed in his honor—cementing a legacy that continues to inspire generations of students.
A Community Effort
This year’s games were powered by an incredible network of 76 volunteers, including:
Longtime event supporters
Parent volunteers assisting school coaches
Retired teachers and staff
Former district employees who returned to help
Their commitment reflects the strong sense of community that defines the Dornon Games year after year.
Record-Breaking Performances
Adding to the excitement, students achieved an impressive milestone by setting seven new meet records—a rare accomplishment that speaks to the talent and dedication of FUESD students.
