Letter from the Superintendent

Dear Fallbrook Union Elementary School District Community,

As September begins, I am excited to announce that we are once again preparing to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, observed from September 15 to October 15. This month-long celebration holds immense significance for our community as we come together to honor the rich tapestry of Hispanic cultures, traditions, and contributions that have enriched our lives and our district.

Fallbrook Union Elementary School District takes immense pride in the diverse backgrounds and experiences that our students and families bring to our community. With a significant percentage of our students and families identifying as Hispanic, we are reminded of the powerful impact that these cultures have on our collective identity. This month, we take the opportunity to express our heartfelt appreciation and recognition for the invaluable contributions that our Hispanic students, families, and staff make to our school district.

In 2023, the FUESD Board of Trustees unanimously passed a resolution officially recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month throughout our district (read more here). This resolution affirms our commitment to honoring the diverse and rich heritage of our Hispanic and Latino community and encourages schools to engage in meaningful educational activities and celebrations during this time. It provides a strong foundation for our ongoing efforts to create inclusive spaces where every student feels valued and seen.

Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, we have planned a series of engaging and educational activities that will not only celebrate the heritage of our Hispanic community but also foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the cultural diversity that enriches our lives.

Our celebration of diversity and unity extends beyond this designated month. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment that honors and respects the myriad of cultures that make up our community. Our goal is to ensure that every student feels valued and empowered to embrace their heritage, share their stories, and contribute positively to the world around them.

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Hispanic families, students, and staff for the integral role they play in shaping the identity of our district. Your unique perspectives, traditions, and talents enrich us in ways that words cannot fully capture. We are grateful for your continued support and partnership as we work together to provide an exceptional educational experience for all.

Let us use this opportunity to learn from one another, celebrate our differences, and foster an environment of unity, respect, and love. As we embark on this journey of cultural celebration, let us remember that our diversity is our strength, and together, we can build a more inclusive and compassionate community.

Estimadas familias y comunidad del Distrito Escolar Primario de Fallbrook,

Al comenzar septiembre, me complace anunciar que una vez más nos estamos preparando para celebrar el Mes de la Herencia Hispana, que se conmemora del 15 de septiembre al 15 de octubre. Esta celebración de un mes tiene una enorme importancia para nuestra comunidad, ya que nos unimos para honrar la rica diversidad de culturas, tradiciones y contribuciones hispanas que han enriquecido nuestras vidas y nuestro distrito.

El Distrito Escolar Primario de Fallbrook se enorgullece profundamente de la diversidad de orígenes y experiencias que nuestros estudiantes y familias aportan a nuestra comunidad. Con un porcentaje significativo de nuestros estudiantes y familias que se identifican como hispanos, recordamos el poderoso impacto que estas culturas tienen en nuestra identidad colectiva. Este mes, aprovechamos la oportunidad para expresar nuestro sincero agradecimiento y reconocimiento por las valiosas contribuciones que nuestros estudiantes, familias y personal hispano realizan en nuestro distrito escolar.

En 2023, la Mesa Directiva de FUESD aprobó por unanimidad una resolución que reconoce oficialmente el Mes de la Herencia Hispana en todo nuestro distrito (lea más aquí). Esta resolución reafirma nuestro compromiso de honrar la rica y diversa herencia de nuestra comunidad hispana y latina, y anima a nuestras escuelas a participar en actividades educativas y celebraciones significativas durante este tiempo. Asimismo, brinda una base sólida para nuestros esfuerzos continuos de crear espacios inclusivos donde cada estudiante se sienta valorado y reconocido.

A lo largo del Mes de la Herencia Hispana, hemos planeado una serie de actividades educativas y participativas que no solo celebrarán la herencia de nuestra comunidad hispana, sino que también fomentarán una comprensión y un aprecio más profundos por la diversidad cultural que enriquece nuestras vidas.

Nuestra celebración de la diversidad y la unidad se extiende más allá de este mes designado. Estamos comprometidos a crear un entorno inclusivo que honre y respete la gran variedad de culturas que conforman nuestra comunidad. Nuestro objetivo es garantizar que cada estudiante se sienta valorado y empoderado para abrazar su herencia, compartir sus historias y contribuir positivamente al mundo que les rodea.

Quiero expresar mi más sincero agradecimiento a nuestras familias, estudiantes y personal hispano por el papel fundamental que desempeñan en la formación de la identidad de nuestro distrito. Sus perspectivas únicas, tradiciones y talentos nos enriquecen de maneras que las palabras no pueden describir por completo. Agradecemos su apoyo y colaboración constantes mientras trabajamos juntos para brindar una experiencia educativa excepcional para todos.

Aprovechemos esta oportunidad para aprender unos de otros, celebrar nuestras diferencias y fomentar un ambiente de unidad, respeto y amor. Al embarcarnos en este viaje de celebración cultural, recordemos que nuestra diversidad es nuestra fortaleza y que, juntos, podemos construir una comunidad más inclusiva y compasiva.
