The Fallbrook Union Elementary School District’s Department of Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO) recently hosted a heartfelt holiday initiative that brought warmth and joy to students across the district.
Led by Director of Expanded Learning Opportunities Lillian Perez, the effort provided new sweaters to all students enrolled in the Fallbrook STEM Academy afterschool program, along with selected students from afterschool programs at other FUESD school sites. The initiative was designed to support students and families while spreading holiday cheer throughout the community.
The experience was made even more special as FUESD’s very own Santa Claus helped distribute the sweaters, creating a festive and memorable moment for students. Smiles, laughter, and excitement filled the space as children received their gifts, turning a simple act of kindness into a meaningful celebration.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to supporting the whole child,” said Perez. “Our Expanded Learning programs are about more than academic enrichment, they are about creating safe, welcoming environments where students feel valued, supported, and cared for.”
The sweater giveaway highlights the broader mission of the ELO department, which oversees afterschool programs throughout the district. These programs provide students with academic support, enrichment activities, and opportunities for social and emotional growth beyond the traditional school day.

El Departamento de Oportunidades de Aprendizaje Expandido (ELO, por sus siglas en inglés) del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Primarias de Fallbrook (FUESD) llevó a cabo recientemente una iniciativa navideña llena de corazón, brindando calidez y alegría a estudiantes de todo el distrito.
Liderada por la Directora de Oportunidades de Aprendizaje Expandido, Lillian Perez, la iniciativa proporcionó suéteres nuevos a todos los estudiantes inscritos en el programa después de clases de Fallbrook STEM Academy, así como a estudiantes seleccionados de otros programas de aprendizaje expandido en las escuelas del distrito. Esta acción tuvo como propósito apoyar a los estudiantes y sus familias, al mismo tiempo que se compartía el espíritu de la temporada.
