FUESD Facilities Team Completes Major Spring Break Improvement Projects Across Campuses

During the recent Spring Break week, the Fallbrook Union Elementary School District (FUESD) Facilities Department successfully completed a series of critical maintenance and improvement projects across multiple school sites, reinforcing the district’s commitment to safe, functional, and high-quality learning environments.

Under the guidance of Armando Farias, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, and led by Bryson Bickler, Director of Facilities Maintenance & Operations, the Facilities team, alongside trusted contractors and in-house staff, worked diligently, often around the clock, to complete time-sensitive upgrades while students and staff were off campus.

Key projects included:

  • Mary Fay Pendleton (MFP): Track asphalt improvements, including replacement, crack fill, and full seal coating of over 10,000 square feet.
  • Potter Junior High (PJH): Major storm drain repair involving 440 linear feet of pipe replacement, along with multiple emergency leak repairs addressed by in-house teams.
  • Maie Ellis Elementary (MEE): Extensive upgrades to Room 203, including abatement, structural siding repairs, flooring, foundation work, and new carpet installation. Additional siding repairs were completed in multiple rooms.
  • Live Oak Elementary (LOE): Cooling tower reconditioning, including fabrication and installation of key structural components.
  • Transportation Yard: Seal coating of approximately 60,000 square feet of asphalt to extend surface life and improve safety.
  • District Office: Landscape revitalization with removal of outdated plantings and installation of new mulch, gravel, and drought-conscious greenery.

“These projects represent a tremendous team effort and a shared commitment to maintaining safe and welcoming schools for our students, families and staff,” said Bryson Bickler. “Spring Break gives us a critical window to complete complex work, and I’m incredibly proud of our Facilities team and partners who executed these improvements with precision and care.”

“Our Facilities team plays a critical role in supporting student learning by ensuring our campuses are safe, well-maintained, and ready every day,” said Armando Farias, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services. “The work completed over Spring Break reflects our unwavering commitment to operational excellence and the success of our students and staff.”

The district extends its sincere gratitude to all Facilities, Grounds, and Maintenance staff whose dedication made these accomplishments possible, including a special thank you to Lead Maintenance Technician Marco Jimenez and Bryan Wald, who led many of the critical repairs at Potter Junior High. Their willingness to work extended hours, and in some cases around the clock, ensured that essential projects were completed by the end of Spring Break, keeping campuses safe, operational, and ready for a smooth return for students and staff.

FUESD remains committed to ongoing investments in its facilities to support student learning and community pride.
