On Tuesday, March 26th, students from the Fallbrook Union Elementary School District (FUESD) had an exhilarating day at Petco Park as part of the culminating event of the FUESD Spring Camp, focusing on STEM and sports-related sciences. Despite the Padres coming up short against the Seattle Mariners, the day was a resounding success, filled with excitement, camaraderie, and unforgettable memories for the young learners. The atmosphere was electric as the children cheered on their favorite team, soaking in the sights and sounds of a live baseball game.
Highlights of the day included several FUESD students being showcased on the jumbotron, adding an extra layer of excitement to their ballpark experience. Additionally, they indulged in classic ballpark fare, enjoying delicious hot dogs while immersing themselves in the spirit of the game. Throughout the Spring Camp Week, students learned how to calculate the circumference of a baseball and even worked on miniature models of baseball fields.
Lilly Perez, Director of Expanded Learning Opportunities, expressed her enthusiasm for the outing, stating, “At FUESD, we are committed to providing enriching experiences that broaden our students’ horizons. Today’s trip to Petco Park was a prime example of how we strive to create memorable learning opportunities outside the classroom. Witnessing the joy and excitement on the faces of our students as they cheered for the Padres reaffirms the importance of such experiences in their educational journey.”
The true winners of the day were the FUESD students, who not only enjoyed a thrilling baseball game but also bonded with their peers in a fun and supportive environment, capping off their enriching experience at the Spring Camp.
