The Fallbrook Union Elementary School District (FUESD) is excited to announce an expanded and refreshed school menu, thoughtfully designed to provide students with nutritious and delicious meals that support their success both in and out of the classroom. This year’s menu reflects a commitment to not only serving healthy options but also educating students on the importance of good nutrition and demonstrating that healthy eating can be fun.
New dishes on the menu combine student favorites with wholesome ingredients. The Spaghetti & Meatballs, which was the top request from last year’s student surveys, is now prepared with a focus on balanced nutrition. Another exciting addition is the Hot Italian Sandwich, a flavorful and satisfying option that shows healthy food can also be delicious.
Incorporating fresh, locally sourced ingredients is central to the menu planning process. Many fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients are sourced from nearby farms in De Luz, Ramona, and Oceanside. This approach not only ensures that students receive the freshest possible produce but also helps them understand the value of local, sustainable food sources.
“The nutrition services team is deeply committed to preparing meals that are not only tasty but also contribute to the overall well-being and academic success of our students,” said Amy Haessly, Director of Child Nutrition Services at FUESD. “By offering a variety of healthy options and educating students on the benefits of good nutrition, healthy eating can become an enjoyable part of their daily lives.”
In addition to providing nutritious meals, FUESD is dedicated to fostering an environment where students can learn about the importance of healthy eating. Healthy foods can be exciting and fun, and every meal served contributes to the physical and mental well-being of students.
FUESD remains committed to offering meals that nourish students and empower them to thrive. The goal is to continue providing healthy, delicious options that help students grow and learn.
